Terms of Use

Effective 20 October 2026. Short version: Typehall stores your notes locally in your browser — it is not a guaranteed backup service, so keep your own copies of anything important.

1. About Typehall

Typehall is a browser-based, local-first notes application. It lets you write, organize, and export notes with no account and no installation: you open the page and start typing.

2. Local storage and your notes

Your note content is stored locally in your browser profile on your own device. Typehall does not operate a server-side note-storage service for normal notes: there is no Typehall account holding your notes and no remote database they sync to.

Because storage is per browser profile, opening Typehall in a different browser, on a different device, or in a fresh profile does not automatically show the same notes — unless a future Typehall sync feature explicitly provides for it and you enable it. Advertising, consent, and hosting infrastructure may still operate on the website as described in the Privacy Policy.

3. Risk of local data loss

Local browser storage is not equivalent to a guaranteed permanent backup. Locally stored notes can be permanently lost, for example when you clear browser or site data, delete or reset a browser profile, run browser or operating-system cleanup tools, browse in private or incognito modes that discard storage, exceed storage quotas, uninstall or reinstall software that removes site data, lose access to the device, encounter filesystem or browser corruption, or take any other action that removes the stored data. Browsers and platforms differ, and their behavior is outside Typehall's control.

4. Backups are your responsibility

Typehall provides backup and export tools, including single-note downloads and full workspace backups. For important notes, create regular backups and do not keep the only copy in a single browser profile. You are responsible for maintaining a backup strategy appropriate to content you cannot afford to lose: clearing browser data or losing access to this browser profile may permanently remove your notes.

5. Use of the service

You agree not to abuse or interfere with the service, attempt to compromise its infrastructure, use Typehall unlawfully, or violate the rights of others. These terms place no restriction on the private content of your own locally stored notes beyond what the law requires.

6. Availability and changes

Typehall may evolve: features may change and the service may occasionally be unavailable. Typehall does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. An outage of the website does not transfer ownership of your local content — notes stored in your browser remain yours — but you should still keep backups, as described above.

7. No professional reliance; warranties

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Typehall is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Typehall is a convenient place to write — it is not suitable as the sole storage mechanism for critical information, and you should maintain independent copies of critical data.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Typehall is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from matters outside its reasonable control, including loss of locally stored notes caused by browser, device, storage, profile, or user-initiated data-deletion events. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability, or any statutory consumer rights, where such an exclusion or limitation is not permitted by applicable law.

9. Your content stays yours

You retain all rights to the notes you write. Typehall does not acquire ownership of your note content merely because you wrote it using the app.

10. Third-party services

The website may use third-party services such as advertising, consent management, hosting, or linked services. How those services process data is explained in the Privacy Policy, not duplicated here.

11. Privacy

Privacy and data handling are governed separately by the Privacy Policy. These Terms do not restate it and, in case of any apparent tension about data handling, the Privacy Policy controls that subject.

12. Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be updated as Typehall evolves; the effective date above always shows the current version. Continued use after an update means you accept the updated Terms as they apply going forward.
